
The LONDON marathon
Its route crosses the city from east to west, ending at St James Park, next to Buckingham Palace.
It was created in 1981 and is one of the 6 major prestigious marathons in the world, the “six majors”. There are around 2 million spectators to support the runners.
In 2025, there were 800,000 contenders in the lottery draw, for a maximum of 45.000 runners.
charity runs are a fantastic and necessary source of funds for charities (73,5 million pounds in 2024).
